Step-by-Step Guide to Performing Umrah

Umrah is a sacred pilgrimage to Makkah that can be performed at any time of the year. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you perform Umrah with confidence.

Step 1: Enter the State of Ihram

Before entering Makkah, pilgrims must enter the state of Ihram at the designated Miqat points. Men wear two white seamless cloths, while women wear modest clothing. Recite the Talbiyah: "Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk."

Step 2: Perform Tawaf

Upon arriving at the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram), perform Tawaf - circling the Kaaba seven times in an anti-clockwise direction. Start from the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad) and end at the same point after each circuit.

Step 3: Pray at Maqam Ibrahim

After completing Tawaf, pray two Rak'ah at Maqam Ibrahim (Station of Ibrahim) or anywhere in the Haram. Drink Zamzam water and make dua.

Step 4: Perform Sa'i

Walk seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah, starting at Safa. This commemorates Hajar's search for water for her son Ismail (AS). Recite prayers at each hill.

Step 5: Shave or Trim Hair

After completing Sa'i, men should shave their head or trim their hair. Women should cut a small portion (finger-length) of their hair. This marks the completion of Umrah.
